Here is How Two Russian Journalists Cooked an Egg with their Cell Phones!!!

Andrei Moiseynko and Vladimir Lagovski  from Komsomolskaya Pravda Newspaper in Moscow decided to learn first-hand how harmful mobile phones are. There is no magic in cooking with your cell phone.Secret is in the radio waves that the cell phone radiates.

The journalists created a simple microwave structure as shown in the picture. They called from one cell phone to the other and left both phones on talking mode. They placed a tape recorder next to phones to imitate sounds of speaking so the phones would stay on.

After, 15 minutes: The egg became slightly warm.

25 minutes: The egg became very warm.

40 minutes: The egg became very hot.

65 minutes: The egg was cooked. (As you can see.)

Conclusion 1: Cooking eggs with mobile phones is possible but very expensive.

Conclusion 2: All this talk of danger is exaggerated; even if your brain gets cooked, it would take a couple hours of talking on a cell phone.

Conclusion 3: We dont recommend carrying cell phone in your pants!

not true
The Mythbusters have proven this is not tre. Radio waves are way too low frequency to cook an egg.

This is a lie. I wish people would quit repeating it. Shows how stupid a lot of bloggers are, they believe anything without thinking.

Ok for one thing, that didn't prove shit about cell phones. They were putting a tape recorder right next to the phone. Try putting two phones together and stick your ear up to it sometime. It creates a good amount of energy. Point is, don't use a cell phone while jamming a tape recorder in your ear.

Cell phones don't use radio waves. They use microwaves. Mythbusters is crap, their experiments are childish and don't take many variables into account. If you don't believe that microwave can cook an egg, you have a lot of learning to do...

microwaves are in fact a form of high frequency radio waves. If you look on the back of your phone it will tell you the frequency range of radio waves that your phone emits. This experiment is completely false. A cell phone emits up to a watt of power. A microwave on the other hand emits up to a few hundred watts of power. If you think that a cell phone can cook an egg, then you have a LOT of learning to do...

um doesnt that mean the cellphone theoretically could cook the egg; just a hundred times slower? maybe like say 60 minutes instead of 60 seconds? :roll

No. Even if you did leave it for a long amount of time, a cell phone would not heat anything a substantial amount. A microwave works by using a very specific frequency that resonates with water molecules, heating them up. It's this property that microwaves use to heat food. Cell phones operate on a very different frequency, eliminating this possibility. The radio waves from a phone will pass harmlessly through the egg.

For arguments sake...
Egg contents
burning salt water

Can you add? There are three sources, if not more, of radio/microwave frequencies being used to cook the egg. That coupled with a ceramic container that holds the egg, which also heats up with radio/microwave frequencies could cook the egg.
Also, it's not the watts that do the cooking, it's the frequencies, and the frequencies that microwaves use is not as specific as aforementioned, it is a range which can be achieved using other devices or combination of devices.
